Maintenance & Handyman for Residence in Maitland

We are a busy family based in Maitland, seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance & Handyman person to manage and maintain our home to the highest standards. This is a private employment opportunity ideal for someone who is reliable, highly organised, and capable of working independently.

Position Overview

The Maintenance & Handyman person will be responsible for a broad range of tasks that include but are not limited to general maintenance, minor repairs, painting, home renovations, carpentry, and upkeep of the home and surrounding areas. The candidate must possess a mature and positive attitude, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Duties include the below, but are not limited to:

General Maintenance:

• Repairing and maintaining plumbing systems
• Electrical repairs and installations
• Painting and patching walls
• Fixing doors, windows, and locks

Painting Duties:

• Re-painting interiors as required
• Painting outdoor structures such as fences and sheds
• Surface preparation and priming before painting

Outdoor Maintenance:

• Lawn mowing and edging
• Garden upkeep including weeding, pruning, and planting
• Fertilising lawns and gardens
• Pest and weed control
• Irrigation system maintenance and repair
• Gutter cleaning
• Patio and outdoor furniture maintenance
• Pool cleaning and maintenance
• Water blasting driveways and external house surfaces

Home Renovation:

• Coordinating and executing small to medium home renovation projects
• Repair works/Tasks
• Assisting in planning and material selection for renovation projects

Carpentry:

• Building and repairing wooden structures such as furniture, doors, and frameworks
• Measuring, cutting, and assembling materials
• Installing wooden fixtures such as cabinets, shelves, and trim
• Repairing or replacing damaged woodwork

Home Upkeep:

• Assembling furniture and fixtures
• Installing and maintaining home appliances
• Light carpentry work
• Wall mounting televisions, artwork, and shelving

Tooling & Equipment:

• It is preferred that the candidate has their own tooling and equipment suitable for a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks.

Ad-hoc Tasks:

• Running errands
• Accepting and storing deliveries
• Seasonal maintenance tasks such as winterising the home
• Emergency repairs as required

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience: Prior experience in a maintenance role, either in a private residence or a commercial setting, is essential.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail is mandatory.
• Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills are essential for managing a variety of tasks efficiently.
• Confidentiality: Must maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
• Transport: Possession of a NSW Driver’s Licence and own vehicle is mandatory.

Working Hours, Location, and Compensation

• Location: The position is based in Maitland.
• Working Hours: The role requires a commitment of 30 hours per week, spread over 4-5 days from Monday to Friday.
• Rate: $35 to $38 per hour + Superannuation
• Leave Entitlements: Annual & Sick Leave.
• Employment Type: Part-Time
