A recent US poll reported that 36 per cent of 18-25-year-olds and 40 per cent of 26-40-year-olds have at least one tattoo. On top of this tattoo artists estimate 1/3 of their clientele are over 50 years of age..
So has body art really gone mainstream.
Employers in creative fields such as design and media encourage tattoos as a sign of self expression. But many other industry employees worry that it would be detrimental to their business. Some of the industries that that would be sensitive to tattoos would include accounting, legal and professional services.
Due to some employers wanting to curve the display of tattoos and piercings within their business they have introduced more stringent grooming and uniform standards.
